Overview

For the past 50 years, our program has helped people get out of debt with no regret. From our two main offices, we offer financial education and debt management services throughout the country as a 501(c)(3). We are approved by the Executive Office of the US Trustee to provide pre-bankruptcy education in nearly all judicial districts. We are approved by the department of Housing and Urban Development to provide housing and mortgage counseling. We also provide financial education to employees at many businesses in our geographic area as a part of their company’s Employee Benefits package.

With all the services we provide at Credit Advisors Foundation, financial education is our main focus. We offer financial education in many different formats, in order to reach as many people as possible. Our educational materials include: monthly newsletters, community presentations, educational seminars and classes, and housing counseling. Educational materials are also available on our web site. Many of these opportunities are available to the public free of charge. Here are some recent examples of our educational offerings:

  • Counseling clients in the preparation, purchasing, and maintaining homeownership as a certified HUD Housing Counseling provider
  • Offering seminars open to the public on credit, credit reports, and debt management
  • Presenting on the management of credit and debt at colleges and universities aimed at persons’ living on their own for the first time
  • Working with social service and community organizations, such as Heartland Family Services and the YWCA, to meet the educational and resource needs of underserved and minority populations
  • Offering support and direction to populations vulnerable to misuse of credit by teaming up with the gambling prevention council and the probation office
  • Teaching the employability class at Boys Town to demonstrate how one’s credit history can reach into many areas of his/her life
  • Speaking in almost every high school district in our geographic area to educate students on credit before they become debtors
